Terms of Service
Last updated: February 20, 2026
1. Service Description
RepoSignal is a platform that analyzes publicly available GitHub profile data to generate developer evaluation reports. These reports are designed to support hiring decisions by providing explainable technical signals based on public contribution metadata.
2. Acceptable Use
By using RepoSignal, you agree to:
- Use the service for lawful purposes only
- Not attempt to circumvent rate limits or access restrictions
- Not use automated tools to scrape or mass-download evaluation reports
- Not misrepresent evaluation results as official GitHub assessments
3. Data and Accuracy
RepoSignal provides decision-support information, not definitive assessments. Evaluation scores and signals are derived from publicly available metadata and should be considered as one data point among many in any hiring or evaluation process.
We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data. GitHub profile data may be incomplete, outdated, or not representative of a developer's full capabilities.
4. Account and Authentication
Sign-in is optional. When you sign in with GitHub, you authorize RepoSignal to access limited profile metadata as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication session.
5. Published Profiles
If you choose to publish your profile, your evaluation report becomes publicly accessible via a shareable URL. You can unpublish your profile at any time, which will restrict access to your report.
6. Organization Data Responsibility
If you install the RepoSignal GitHub App on repositories belonging to an organization, you represent that you have the authority to grant such access. Access to organization repository metadata is the sole responsibility of the person who authorizes the installation.
7. Intellectual Property
RepoSignal's scoring algorithms, UI design, and report formats are proprietary. The underlying GitHub data belongs to the respective users and is accessed through GitHub's public API in accordance with GitHub's terms of service.
8. Limitation of Liability
RepoSignal is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any decisions made based on evaluation reports, nor for any damages arising from the use of or inability to use the service.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
